Stapleton - A Featured Denver Neighborhood

Since 2001 Stapleton neighborhood has been evolving from the former Stapleton International Airport since 2001 into a new urban community filled with residential homes, condominiums, towhomes, commercial shopping centers, office parks, schools and recreational parks encompassing 4,700 acres of land. Not only is Stapleton the largest new urbanist project in the United States it is the largest neighborhood in the city and County of Denver.

Stapleton's inspiration was Denver's historic neighborhoods such as Washington Park and Congress Park to name a couple, offering a wide variety of housing choices, tree-lined streets, nearby offices, town centers, schools and parks.

The Stapleton project plans to devote 1,100 acres of the 4,700 acres to recreational parks and open space. One of the main centerpieces of Stapleton's regional park system will be the 80 acre park known as "Central Park" in which you will find an urban forest, pedestrian paths and prairies mounds 30 feet high, ideal for sledding. Stapleton's Central park will also include a gathering place with a stage, cafe and play area.

There will be 3 million square feet of retail space for shopping, dining and 10 million square feet of office space. Stapleton's regional retail center known as Northfield is a combination of major anchor stores, specialty shops, restaurants and entertainment, in an outdoor setting where it is pedestrian friendly.

Stapleton's plan of 12,000 homes and apartments offer a wide variety of New Housing choices that will accommodate everyone, catering to families, singles, seniors, first time homebuyers or empty nesters. In the next 15 years, Stapleton will be home to over 30,000 residents.
