Cheesman Park- A Featured Denver Neighborhood
Cheesman Park neighborhood is listed as a historic park and parkway system in Denver's National Register of Historic Places. Originally, the park was known as Prospect Hill Cemetery covering Cheesman Park and the Denver Botanical Gardens, then in 1893 Congress awarded a grant to permit its use as parkland and relocate the cemetery. In 1989 German landscaper, architect Reinhardt Schuetze designed the park and construction soon followed. However, Mr. Schuetze would not live to see the completion of the
park by 1910. In 1907, the park was officially named Cheesman Park, after the baron Walter S. Cheesman for his generous donation of $100,000 toward the pavilion.
