Capitol Hill - Featured Denver Neighborhood

Capitol Hill was founded during 1880s as a new residential suburb for Denver's wealthiest families. Strolling through Capitol Hill you will see extravagant Victorians and Greek revival mansions that were built using sandstone, granite and other materials. Among the most prominent residents in this neighborhood was legendary Titanic survivor, Molly Brown, whose home still stands on Pennsylvania Street and currently offers tours.

Capitol Hill is one of many neighborhoods in Central Denver undergoing gentrification. This multi-generational diverse neighborhood is home to many people who all have kept their loyalty to their part of Downtown Denver. With many developments such as condominium conversions, entertainment
venues, offices and retail stores, residents of Capitol Hill have even more reasons to be proud. Established families have resided in the historic beautiful Capitol Hill homes for decades, while a younger crowd is now renting apartments or buying condominiums in the area.

As one of Denver's most densely populated neighborhoods, foot traffic out numbers car traffic, as there are many walkable streets and close to parks, restaurants, clubs, bars, coffee shops and boutiques. Capitol Hill is next to two major Denver Parks; Cheesman Park and the Civic Center Park both which are meeting centers for the community and host many annual festivals such as the Taste of Colorado and the Peoples Fair.

Capitol Hill is also know as a haven for Artists, between 10th and 11th on Sherman Street, you'll find Poet's Row, a block of historic apartment complex's all named after lyrical luminaries such as Emily Dickenson and Robert Frost. Furthermore, Alan Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac once resided on the hill as well.

Capitol Hill offers the city's widest range in housing types and price ranges. You will find high-rise apartments/condos, Historic Mansions, Single Family Homes, Duplexes, and Lofts in renovated commercial buildings; Mixed-use housing and vacant lots are currently being used to construct new luxury housing developments.
